Complete Skimmer

CO2 scrubber

Why use CO2 scrubber

PH Increase

Reducing CO2 injection into the skimmer raises PH and keeps it high all night with no dips.

Increased coral growth

With stable PH you can expect 3-10 times more coral growth.

Colour Changing

Easy to know when the media is exausted, as the media changes to purple.

Less Algae Growth

Without CO2 algae is not able to photosynthesise helping with all algae including hair and cyano.

Our Premium Co2 scrubbers are made of durable plastics made to last the test of time and salt creep. The body is made of the highest quality transparent and white acrylic.  It contains a clear refillable cartridge which makes media changing a breeze and a small filter sponge at the bottom to filter dust and to allow you to add water to help extend the life of your media.  This will not only increase the life span of the media but work out to make this a very cost-effective solution.

Air is pulled into the center chamber up through the sponge and then passes through the air scrubbing media which removes all CO2 before it enters your skimmer via a special hose to keep CO2 from re-entering the skimmer.  This in turn removes Co2 from your aquarium and raises your pH.

Most Aquariums become hard to shift past a pH level of 7.8 our tests have shown that using this method of Co2 removal will raise your pH by 0.2-0.8 degrees, as most tanks positioned in your living room during winter with windows closed will have high Co2 levels in a room.

Our Co2-removing media also changes colour as it is used and you can view how much life the media has left.  We recommend changing the media long before all the media is used to keep pH stable.  It is important to keep the sponge damp and the CO2 scrubber is easily opened using the supplied filter housing wrench.

Another benefit from CO2 scrubbing is less algae growth this will happen as pH is stabilized and fewer pH dips happen at night.  Without CO2 algae is not able to photosynthesise helping with all algae including hair and cyano.  Your dKH will also stabilise and the use of buffers will no longer be required.

You can expect a stable PH of 8.2-8.3 to at least double your coral growth providing your other levels are perfect.

What the BRS boys say?

In our Co2 removal system, we employ a meticulous process for the controlled extraction of CO2 before it reaches your protein skimmer. This strategic approach serves the dual purpose of effectively reducing CO2 levels within your tank while also contributing to the elevation of pH levels. CO2, originating from human and pet respiration among other sources, can gradually accumulate within the aquatic environment, potentially exerting adverse effects on pH balance. By intercepting and managing CO2 levels before they reach critical points, we help maintain a more stable pH environment conducive to the thriving growth of corals. Notably, a pH level of 8.3 is recognized as optimal for coral growth, facilitating their development and vitality within your aquarium ecosystem.

These photos showcase CO2 scrubbers in action. Some are recirculating CO2 scrubbers, which take already scrubbed air from the top of the skimmer and channel it back into the skimmer pump. This process helps to use less media over time.

“I bought this to try as I could not keep my PH above 7.8 at first I drilled small holes in the bottom of a 2lt drink bottle and filled it with media.  Siliconed some air tube through the cap and connected it to my skimmer within 2 weeks I could see the difference pH was 8.1 and stayed high even during the evening when lights went off keeping corals a lot happier.  I have bought myself a proper scrubber to connect to my skimmer great product works well”
