What is Seachem Stability?
Stability® is Seachem’s flagship bio-filtration starter that introduces a synergistic consortium of non-sulphur-fixing aerobic, anaerobic and facultative bacteria into any freshwater, brackish or marine aquarium. These microbes rapidly colonise all surfaces, converting toxic ammonia ➞ nitrite ➞ nitrate while simultaneously digesting organic waste, thereby eliminating the #1 cause of fish loss—new-tank syndrome.
Why choose Stability over ordinary “bacteria in a bottle”?
Complete nitrogen cycle coverage – contains true nitrifiers and heterotrophs, so it tackles both dissolved waste and sludge.
Works in fresh and salt water without altering pH, KH or salinity.
Non-sulphur fixing – will not generate toxic hydrogen sulphide in deep substrates.
Fish-safe from day 1 – livestock can be added immediately if the full 7-day dosage schedule is followed.

Dosage & Directions
Shake vigorously.
Day 1 (start-up): 1 cap (5 mL) per 40 L (10 US gal).
Days 2–7: 1 cap per 80 L (20 US gal) daily.
During dosing, turn off UV sterilisers & ozone for 48–72 h to avoid killing the new bacteria.
Maintenance (optional): 1 cap per 80 L once a month or after large water changes and livestock additions.
Bottle coverage (start-up schedule):

How Stability Works
Nitrosomonas & Nitrosospira spp. oxidise ammonia to nitrite.
Nitrospira spp. convert nitrite to nitrate.
Facultative heterotrophs digest organic sludge, starving algae fuel and clarifying water. The blend remains active in low-oxygen pockets (inside rockwork or filter foam) where classical nitrifiers stall, giving you 360° biological protection.
Pro Tips for Maximum Success
Use with Seachem Prime® during start-up to detoxify residual ammonia/nitrite while bacteria establish.
Dose directly into the filter intake for rapid colonisation of biomedia.
Combine with Seachem Pristine® in heavily stocked tanks for dual action: nitrification + sludge digestion.
Test water daily; if ammonia or nitrite spike above 0.5 ppm, add an extra half-dose of Stability and Prime.
Safety, Storage & Shelf-Life
Completely harmless to fish, shrimp, corals, plants & live rock. Store sealed between 4 °C – 35 °C. Refrigeration after opening extends potency but is not essential. Shelf life: 4 years unopened.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I overdose on Stability?
No. The bacterial population is self-limiting; excess will simply be purged by the filter without harm.
My water turned slightly cloudy—normal?
Yes. A temporary haze can appear for 24 h as bacteria proliferate and bind fine particulates; it clears on its own.
Is it reef-safe?
Absolutely—Stability is free of copper, formaldehyde or perfumes. It is safe for corals, clams, invertebrates and delicate macro-algae.
