CO2 Scrubber media 1 Litre
Why should you use a CO2 scrubber?
Low P.H. in saltwater aquariums can be a result of an aquarium being located in an area with lots of CO2 present in the air, dogs and people breathing as well as not being able to open windows in the winter all increase the CO2 in your aquarium.
Use CO2 scrubber media to raise the PH of your tank by removing the CO2 being passed into your tank by your skimmer.
This CO2-absorbing media changes colour to purple from light green when exhausted.
The CO2 removal helps to raise and maintain a stable PH value which is highly beneficial to the overall health of your aquarium improving the coral’s health and growth being an effective preventative measure at removing airborne pollutants from entering the aquarium.
You can also reduce algae in a natural way by using this media connected to your aquarium’s protein skimmer air intake. This will remove the CO2 that algae need to grow. Without the CO2 algae are unable to Photosynthesis and in this way, CO2 becomes a limiting factor of all algae including Cyano, hair algae etc.
Directions: Place media in a suitable reactor and insert a sponge dampened with a little RODI water in the bottom. This will cause humidity and will help your scrubbing media last longer. Connect the hose to the intake of your protein skimmer and monitor PH over the next few days/weeks to see a PH increase aiming for 8.1-8.4. The media will take a purple color when used up so knowing when to replace is easy. When depleted replace the media and dampen sponge again.
Recommendations: Place a small layer of carbo on top of your scrubbing media to help remove any pollutants’ or airborne items this is not required but is an extra measure to help remove contaminants.
